Lee calls his system the ‘Strike Force System’. And here’s how easy to learn it is… Just SIX SIMPLE MOVES! Yep, that’s right. The whole thing consists of six easy-to-master moves. Why? Because simple works when you’re under fire ! As Lee explains: “People need simplicity when things are on the line. Most self defence and martial arts systems are too complicated… there’s too much to remember… too much choice about what to do next. You don’t have time for that… What’s important is to eliminate the threat as rapidly as possible… ” With only six simple but deadly effective moves you don’t have to be a muscleman, Kung Fu whizz, super fit soldier or specially trained person to put these techniques into action .

Princess Diana was one of the World’s biggest ‘celebrities’…and
she had round-the-clock protection from some of the finest
bodyguards in the World.

One of her bodyguards was a guy called LEE SANSUM.

A guy that who was even photographed with her, and who even has the
signed ‘Thank you’ letter from Princess Diana testifying to his
prowess.

But that was some years ago – and since then, Lee has moved onto
even bigger things…

Now, Lee trains the like of the NIGERIAN Special Forces (in one of
the World’s most *dangerous* countries)…and he’s all about using
the most POWERFUL AND QUICK AND EASY self-defense methods going.

It’s why I’m writing to you today…

As you know.. It is VERY RARE that I ever endorse other material…

However, in the case of Lee Sansum, I have to make an exception.

I have trained with Lee on numerous occassions and have ALWAYS been
impressed with his ability, knowledge, dedication and desire to
help others.

For more information on this new 5 DVD Set from LEE Sansum… Which
I actually gave an Introduction to.

That’s right.. I was so impressed with Lee and his material, that I volunteered to introduce his material.

Anyway.. enough chat.. here is the link for more information.

What-If Monkeys Guide By Marc MacYoung

What-If-Monkeys (a field guide to problem people in dojos/seminars/training)

I really like Marc MacYoung’s website at http://www.nononsenseselfdefense.com and I have followed it for years as it is exactly as it says on the tin and a reservoir of great information. I read this web page tonight and I have enclosed a snippet here – you can read the full discussion at http://www.nononsenseselfdefense.com/WIMS.htm.

“Let’s establish something right up front. Engaging in violent conflict is dangerous!

Every time you are involved in violence, it is a crapshoot whether or not you will be injured, crippled or killed. You can do everything “right” and still get injured. If you cannot calmly and rationally accept this reality, then you have no business being in this arena.

Violence is extremely mutable. Those mutations occur from situation to situation and second to second depending on circumstances. As such, attempting to micromanage and have exact pre-planned responses to every possible scenario is unrealistic. Such an attitude hinders mental flexibility and inhibits the responder’s ability to adapt to changing circumstances. This inability increases the danger to the would be responder.

Let us further state, there is NO guaranteed, never-fail, ultimate method to keep from getting hurt. And anybody who tells you otherwise is lying to you — usually in order to get your money.

There are many instructors of so-called combat systems, reality based self-defense programs or deadly esoteric martial arts styles that will take your money in exchange for teaching you their ‘guaranteed system.’

The reason these con men exist is because there are people — who burdened with an over-active imagination — are trying to find a way to never lose. This obsession of theirs leaves them vulnerable to the lies and nonsense of the BS artists who claim they can make you invincible.

The raw truth is that when it comes to losing at violence, everyone gets their turn. Nobody always wins. When that happens, you have to pay the price. You need to know this going in. If you are afraid to take a beating then don’t try to stand up and fight, run away.

While that may stick in your craw, it is a far safer strategy. Violence is dangerous because it mutates so fast. Things change in the blink of an eye. But this is not chaos, nor is it random. It is:

a) the OODA loop (see later) being executed at high speed — by everyone involved
b) factors/conditions that existed previously, but were unknown to you
c) physics and results vs. what you intended (or hoped) would happen

These can be summed up as decisions, surprise and unintended consequences. All change what is happening. And they all occur really, really fast in violence. While violence may look chaotic and random, if it were slowed down, these points would be easier to identify and see the results.

In order to best navigate through violence one must have the ability to adapt, improvise and overcome — and do it quickly. Your plans and actions need to change as fast as the circumstances. And even then you run the risk of not being able to adapt fast enough. This is why there are no guaranteed ways to always ‘win’ or remain unscathed when it comes to violence. There is no system that cover every possible mutation or requirement.

However, there is a particular mindset; people who are both obsessed with the image of violence and a desire to micromanage it, who keep the hucksters of ‘guaranteed fighting systems’ rolling in money. No matter what is presented to them, such people’s fertile imagination always finds a bigger, badder boogey man and weakness with the information. It never occurs to them how often their fantasies of violence defy the laws of physics, common sense, odds, chances and disregards how violent people behave.

All they can see is their fear and their obsession with winning and not getting hurt.

We have a name for these people.
It is a name based on the question they are always chattering.
We call them “What-If- Monkeys.”

Or WIMs for short.”

OODA
OODA Boyd
It has become an important concept in both business and military strategy. According to Boyd, decision-making occurs in a recurring cycle of observe-orient-decide-act. An entity (whether an individual or an organization) that can process this cycle quickly, observing and reacting to unfolding events more rapidly than an opponent, can thereby “get inside” the opponent’s decision cycle and gain the advantage.

Getting stuck does not lead to winning, since “In order to win, we should operate at a faster tempo or rhythm than our adversaries–or, better yet, get inside [the] adversary’s Observation-Orientation-Decision-Action time cycle or loop. … Such activity will make us appear ambiguous (unpredictable) thereby generate confusion and disorder among our adversaries–since our adversaries will be unable to generate mental images or pictures that agree with the menacing as well as faster transient rhythm or patterns they are competing against.”

Boyd developed the concept to explain how to direct one’s energies to defeat an adversary and survive. Boyd emphasized that “the loop” is actually a set of interacting loops that are to be kept in continuous operation during combat. He also indicated that the phase of the battle has an important bearing on the ideal allocation of one’s energies.

Boyd’s diagram shows that all decisions are based on observations of the evolving situation tempered with implicit filtering of the problem being addressed. These observations are the raw information on which decisions and actions are based. The observed information must be processed to orient it for further making a decision.

Chris Crudelli On Crime

Crudelli On Crime

Chris Crudelli, star of ‘Mind Body and Kick Ass Moves’ and recent and future Peterborough Seminars has brought out his latest DVD entitled ‘Crudelli on Crime’, subtitled, ‘London.’ and endeavors to show how you can use martial arts techniques to defend yourself against crime on the street.

crudelli-on-crimeFrom the beginning of this documentary we can see that it has a similar feel to the Mind Body and Kick Ass Moves with its funky graphics and soundtrack with a strong beat. Although it has the appearance of a music clip, there is a serious message to the programme and the viewer is warned from the beginning to go to a qualified instructor to train, which will hopefully defer those couch commandos into thinking they are street survival action heroes after watching this. This is in essence an instructional DVD and not a how to guide that applies various simple yet effective martial arts techniques to a variety of common street crimes situations that plague British cities today.

Crudelli on Crime is located in and around London and it is this twist, with its examination of the increasing statistics of casual crime that makes the documentary so appealing. Chris travels around the capital talking to a selection of people and makes a pertinent point when he says that with a lot of stabbing or shootings, “it’s more about respect and getting stuff.”

Another interesting encounter is with the group of young people he meets in Greenwich and challenges them about their attitudes to self defence, which again supports his theory about image. If the situation allows and rather than facing a confrontation head on, simply running away is one of the best forms of self defence apart from not being there in the first place. This sensible and utterly practical piece of advice seems to be the obvious answer to most level headed adults but Chris had to argue his point to the youngsters in order to convince them that running away wasn’t an act of cowardice.

Crudelli on Crime
There are lots of martial arts moves that are demonstrated by Chris that appear both easy to do and work. One of the dangers is that being an experience martial artist, he can make the moves look simple yet to a beginner will need a lot of practise. However, Chris is at pains to emphasise that these should only be used as a last resort and that going to a martial arts class with a qualified instructor is your best bet. Some of the most useful tips were those that didn’t need any physical confrontation such as the false wallet trick given to the German tourists. Simply by having a cheap second wallet containing paper and fake credit cards to throw at a mugger to enable one to get away was a real good idea.

There is quite a lot of humour in this, which makes a welcome relief and it is Chris’s down to earth approach that makes the message about self defence easier to digest. It is the section at the end though that provides the most danger and laughs as he attempts to engage in a real life mugging. Unfortunately, even though he has his Argos catalogue to defend himself, you will have to watch the DVD to see what he does with it, the poor man cannot get mugged! He does encounter some ne’er-do-wells though, and the results are most interesting.
Crudelli on Crime is well worth buying and is both an entertaining guide to the crime spots of London as well as offering some useful tips if you should find yourself at the business end of a knife or gun.

The Definitive Self-Protection Handbook

Geoff Thompson’s Definitive Self Protection Handbook. “Dead or Alive”.
Most other self-defense books emphasize which fighting techniques to use in a particular situation. This book teaches how to avoid to get in that situation in the first place, and how to react to aggressive statements like “What are you looking at!”. It even informs you what to tell the Law in case you won the fight…

This is a very special book. Second only to Peter Consterdine’s “Streetwise: Manual of Personal Security and Self Defence” in terms of giving you all around and essential information on self protection, this book is an absolute ‘must have’.Whilst “Streetwise” gives you almost everything you need, this book complements it perfectly and supplies the few missing pieces necessary to round out the picture. The author, Geoff Thompson, has a background as a doorman, and has put in a great deal of effort to study and learn both the ‘street’ skills of combat and the academic and intellectual tools to understand violent situations.

Combining elements of academic psychology with interview evidence from a range of violent criminals, from muggers to rapists, even murderers, Thompson shows the mindset and attack rituals of these criminals. This vital information combined with the simple but not simplistic self protection ideas that Thompson explains enable you to fully understand how to firstly, avoid and evade trouble and dangerous situations, and secondly, how to stand a chance of dealing with a potential assailant that you have been unable to escape from.

This is no fools advice though. Thompson does not attempt to fill your head with unworkable super techniques. His advice is based on his own experience that the simple and ‘scruffy’ stuff is what works. Indeed it is all you will be capable of doing if you are caught in a situation where it is all kicking off, and far from being the coward’s way, Thompson proves that running away is by far the better option.

The best thing about the book though is Thompson’s discussion on the law as regards self defence. This will prove to be a real eye opener to many readers and certainly forces you to adopt realistic attitudes to the world. Make no mistake, YOU are responsible for your own self protection, not the police and the courts, and Thompson does an excellent job of getting this across.

In essence, this book with it’s focus on giving an insight into the mindset of the violent offender, and it’s excellent approach to making you sit up and take responsibility for your own self protection and defence, forms the perfect companion for the all around information contained in Peter Consterdine’s “Streetwise”.

Get hold of both and give them some serious study and you will be much safer and wiser.
