Estate Agency Profession Employ Martial Arts Master

A local PROPERTY agent is making sure its staff are safe by training them in awareness and some basic martial arts.

Rosedale Property Agents, which has branches in Stamford and Bourne, has employed the services of Master Parkers Serial Kickers to teach its staff vigilance and basic martial arts moves to gain self protection and escape from an undesirable situation.

Staff have started taking part in training seminars based on potential work related real-life situations.

Managing director Jeremy Drew said: “The risk to personal safety in the estate agency profession ticks up a notch when we are doing accompanied viewings in the evening on empty properties. Everyone needs to be extra vigilant to dangers that could be around the corner.”

Assistant manager at the Bourne branch Catherine Brown said property agents can feel vulnerable. She said: “With what we have been taught I feel much more confident of what I could do.”

Master Ian Parker, who founded the course, believes the key to safety is recognising dangerous situations before people become vulnerable and knowing how to respond appropriately.
